Updated review: I'm a slow player, but I'm still enjoying the game, the cute characters and the gameplay do it for me. I still recommend it to my friends to try, so we can all join a party!
One of my all-time favs 🙂
I love the series Kingdom Hearts! I've been playing Unchained for over a year now and never tire of the gameplay. It's free, fun, and enjoyable to play.
Some minor recommendations that I think can make the gaming experience more enjoyable for players. I would love it if there was a feature where we could trade medals, whether within the party or union. Sometimes members from my party have medals that others need to guilt. Wasting jewels for banners usually doesn't cut it since we're after specific medal types. I wouldn't mind—if this does become a thing in the game—if there was a limit to how many times we can trade with one another. This can help the party/union become more interactive with one another.
Another suggestion to consider is allowing more leverage on proud quests in Story mode. I understand where they're coming from by giving restrictions for each quest; it actually makes us work harder to get the sun gems for Sleeping Lion Keyblade. However, I don't like being forced to use the keyblade assigned to me.
Quests have also become increasingly harder under events and union cross. I'm only level 265. I'm used to defeating heartless well around 230. I don't even have a single medal guilted over 100%. Why are we suddenly being forced to defeat bosses that are +350???
Other than that, really great game. I haven't encountered issues like most players have in regards to the customer service and expensive costs. In the end it's SENA's choice if they want to drive their profits down. For now just be patient and enjoy the game for what it is.
This game is very good.
•Controls are pin point accurate
•100s of hours of gameplay
•Meet new people
•There are micro transactions (Completely Optional)
•It's addicting (Like drugs)
They game is very good, but many people will judge it, because of the slow story in the beginning, etc.
But overall the game is very good. And it's FREE. SO JUST TRY IT OUT!!!

This game is pretty good for designed as an app for the iOS! As always Square Enix did good job creating stunning graphics (which I find not bad for an app designed as a prequel for all of the Kingdom Hearts game series which were all created for the PlayStation Console) with some of the original soundtrack from the Kingdom Hearts game series. The cool thing is that YOU are the Keyblade wielder in this game. You create an avatar of your choice and as you play, you win more accessories for your avatar. You gain keyblades similar to the ones Sora uses in PS games. Your keyblade's power is derived from various metals that contain either a magic, strength, or speed power to help defeat various foes. You can either level up or evolve these metals to harness even MORE power. The metals possess a familiar character and their powers used to defeat your foes, so it's pretty cool how the image of that character changes as you evolve the metal and then seeing how quickly you can take your opponents down (which is even more awesome...er). Oh yeah... you can add or remove certain metals to/from your keyblade. Kind of similar to the video game series. But unlike the video game series, you can play with other players/keyblade wielders in real time and even use one of their metals to help you defeat your opponents.
The downside to this game is that these quests are soooo long! I mean in one world you undergo several scenes until you FINALLY arrive to the MAIN scene where you are either helping the main character of that world or you are defeating the villain trying to take conquest of the world you are in. But if you think about it this an app versus the video game where you can move throughout the world and the app can't do that. Then again this is my assumption why the quests feel sooo long to me. Also to buy new metals requires you to use jewels, which is nearly impossible to earn unless you play challenging games or you purchase them. This makes it hard to buy powerful and rare metals which are out only for a limited amount of time.
But overall, it's great game play whether are new or familiar to Kingdom Hearts series. It has familiar Disney characters in addition to characters found in the Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy video games (I know it makes a strange mix but it works quite well in the Kingdom Hearts series). So I highly recommend you to download it on your iPhone today!
An Awesome Entry In The Kingdom Hearts Series!
By Inomaru Forever
I've had this game since day one way back in 2016, and I've loved every minute of it! For those new to the series, this game is technically the first in the series, as it takes place hundreds of years before Birth By Sleep, which is before the first Kingdom Hearts!
But anyways, yes, this game is expansive, and it offers lots to do, from story missions to special events to quests that help strengthen your medals! And the awesome thing is that you can form a party of 30 members whom you can interact with and share tips with! There's also Union Cross mode, which is loads of fun, as you play missions with five other players at the same time! And your avatar is completely customizable, which is also an awesome plus!
That said though, this game can at times be difficult, and there are times when you get stuck due to an enemy's insanely high level! But for the time I've had the game, I've never spent a single dime, and I'm practically caught up to the story and I have some pretty decent medals! It's all about patience and how you play the game! At least, that's how I see it! So long as you're patient and keep moving on in the game, you really don't have to buy anything! But yes, this game is awesome, and as a fan of the KH series that's been playing these games for 11 years, I highly recommend it! :D
May your hearts be your guiding key! ^_^
Game is full of petty marketing ploys to try to convince players to make in-app purchases and micro transactions. Also the app crashes and doesn't load due to constantly needing updates.
It would be great if we could sort medals by name. Thanks for hearing me out.
Greed & Laziness ruins this game
The game has a good foundation, its nostalgic and when you actually reach a level in the story that has STORY (about 1 in every 5-6 levels) then it's charming.
However, of you intend to play this game without paying money, give up on over half the events and content, there is no possible way to be relevant without coughing up over $100 and having really good luck. Take this from someone who has sunk well over $300 into this silly thing and with some of the most powerful attacks in the game I still hit a brick wall with the poorly balanced event bosses. (Org 13 medal final stages, google them)
All in all, i wish the Devs weren't so filthy rich off fools like me to feel a mild amount of shame for not even putting effort into making a balanced and fun game regardless of how much cash you bleed.
Over a year played
The game offers plenty of content. You'll always be able to log in and do something. However, you won't always be able to progress.
So you start buying the weekly deal. You get further. Get access to better medals and feel good. Then another wall.
So you spend more money and buy more medals to keep the feeling of growth you had.
437 days played in and I quit today. The game was great, but after all this time I ask myself where did the investment go? I paid so much money just to get fed content that I still couldn't progress through because I didn't have a specific medal or a specific trait.
Know what you're getting into. While free to play still has lots to do, you will rarely rank and earn rewards of progression to get stronger.
Expensive and not worth the hardwork
This is a pay to actually do damage to the enemy app. I'm on level 296 but since I don't have guilted medals (expensive and difficult to aquire) I don't do much damage and I get oneshot easily. ._.
