This app has improved my viewing by 100% The films one can find in here are treasures and the app does a great job of delivering them and providing further context with the additional interview footage about the films. Worth every cent of the subscription.
  • Great Service

    By MasonMcCabe
Huge selection of movies, constantly rotating criterion titles, creative curated stashes. Just wish they’d update the UI to make navigating such a huge collection a bit easier.
  • Great service

Before I lost my sight I use to go see a lots of movies But,filmstruck was not accessible for blind user who like movies It is so funny that Netflix get it they cater for everybody While filmstruck don’t think about the blind user who love movie Very disappointed
  • Finally only the movies I want see -- but there is room for improvement

I was over the moon when I learned about Filmstruck. Now that I've used this service for a couple months, here are some suggestions for improvement: • allow for incomplete viewings to be available on the home page so the user doesn't have to look for them again. While I agree that great films should be seen all at once, like at the movies, that's not always physically possible... • subtitles for foreign films are fine, but captions for English films are riddled with spelling errors, mistakes, sometimes nonsense. For people with auditory problems, having reliable subtitles for all films would be of great help. • the expiration dates of short-term movies are visible only in the browser. Please make them visible in the app as well. And keep up the great job bringing us cinematic gems! Thank you!!

-- A TIP FOR APPLE TV NAVIGATION -- Navigating the FilmStruck menu on the Apple TV app can be frustrating and sometimes it seems like the menu just does random things when you try to navigate to your movie, but I have a tip that I discovered that works for me 99% of the time now: in short, TAP THE PAD - DON'T SWIPE. Yeah so you know how you usually slide your thumb over the remote pad when you're navigating on Apple TV? Well don't do that on the FilmStruck app menu. Instead tap on the side of the remote pad in the direction you wish to navigate to and it will increment one section over in that direction. That's it, just remember to tap, not swipe, and you'll be able to get to those movies that are aaaaaalll the way to the right with a ease. Good luck and happy hunting. 😁 -- REVIEW -- Content is where FilmStruck shines. Simply put there is no better content available to stream anywhere, period. The quality combo of the TCM Vault and The Criterion Channel makes this an easy subscription recommendation for any fan of film. If you're like me and your cable channel is pretty much locked on TCM and your bluray shelf is stuffed with Criterions, then I'd recommend you go for the yearly subscription. It'll easily pay for itself in a few months time by not having to buy all those new Criterion discs. Many of the new Criterion titles show up for streaming even before the discs hit their street dates. On content alone FilmStruck gets 5-stars, easily. I have been a subscriber of FilmStruck since day one and I can say that the service and app have steadily, albeit slowly, improved over that time. It's been a little over a year now since their debut, and we've seen much improvement to both the iOS and Apple TV apps. They still have a ways to go before I can give either a full 5-stars but I have raised my rating today to 4-stars (from 3-stars) because of the recent improvements to app performance and overall functionality. I hope the FilmStruck Team continues to work on improving the apps and if they do I can hopefully return soon to offer my 5-star review. Good luck, and please keep the awesome flicks coming. Thank you.
  • What a great service, just needs 2 things.

    1) offline playback on iPad, iPhone and Android - would LOVE to watch FilmStruck while on a plane! 2) integration with to track which movies you’ve seen, friend recommendations, etc. FilmStruck lacks any sort of “I’ve seen this and rated it.” System, so why not hook up with the non-affiliated, the social media site for film lovers? It’s a match made in movie heaven!
  • Superb!

  • Mostly excellent!

As a 74-year-old “film buff” I was totally delighted to discover FilmStruck! I no longer watch “regular” TV - partly re: cost, partly re: lack of interest in subject matter. As a result I lost access to a favorite station - TCM. FilmStruck has provided me access to so many movies that I loved watching while growing up, both in theaters then on B&W television. And it fits my budget! My first FilmStruck viewing? “CASABLANCA”! Have seen it oh so many times - enjoyed it anew with the perspective of 74 years of life, loves, family, sorrows and joys! I love the app, but also hope for an improvement or two. Perhaps the limitations arise from watching on iPad rather than laptop (?) but - for example, “Curse of the Cat People” listed closed captions option but I found no way to access them. This movie also listed “commentary”: There WERE host comment bits, but not a movie-long commentary (like on DVD’s), at least none that I could find. I hope to see an upgrade in site navigation options. On the up-side, of late I have found myself searching hundreds of titles on Netflix and having difficulty sparking interest in ANY of them. (Price of being non-current at my age?😉) On FilmStruck I immediately added a dozen titles to my watch list! All-in-all I find FilmStruck to be a DEFINITE 🌟🌟🌟🌟 site! I hope it will succeed and continue to add to its already excellent library of classic films!
  • Stellar collection, Lame Bugs

The films available always blow my mind. Truly. However, the frequent, and I can't stress that word enough, audio issues (out of sync, clipped sounds, clicking...) and visual issues (pixels, horizontal glitches, freezing frames) really deter me from watching films. "Will this one play right? Will the sound be synced up? Can I stand the visual bugs?" This issue isn't just mine. Most everyone I've spoken with has this issue with the service. Instead of fixing browsing issues or updating descriptions... in fact, instead of adding films, just fix the bugs. Please. I'd rather get stuck with your vast library of films and not have them updated for a year if you'd just fix these issues. As a joint venture between Criterion and Turner, I expected better quality at the most basic levels, picture and sound. Also, you don't have enough Pasolini ;)
