Nintendo Switch Parental Controls™ is a free app for smart devices to keep you engaged with your family's gaming activities on Nintendo Switch. ◆ A Nintendo Switch console with the latest available system version is required to use this app. This is recommended for people worried about things such as: 1. Is my child spending too much time playing games? 2. What kind of games is my child playing? 3. Are the games my child is playing age-appropriate? Below are three special features of the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app: 1. Monitor play time on your console. Set a play-time limit and the console will notify users that the time limit has been reached. Parents and guardians can check the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app to see if the time limit has been followed. It is also possible to suspend gameplay automatically when the play-time limit is reached. 2. Check up on your console's gameplay. The summary function allows you to easily see what games have been played on the console recently and how much time was spent playing each day. View daily reports and monthly summaries of play activity. If you choose to receive push notifications, you'll be notified when a new monthly summary is available. It's an easy way to see what kind of games your family is interested in. 3. Restrict console features. Nintendo Switch functions can be restricted to prevent the console from playing games above a certain age rating. Attention: ◆ An Internet connection is required to use this app. Cellular data may be used. A Nintendo Account (for ages 18 and up) is also required. ◆ Restrictions to Nintendo eShop purchases can be set from Nintendo Account settings. ◆ Your use of this app is subject to the Nintendo Account User Agreement available at ◆ In order to make use of all of the features and settings available in the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app, all registered Nintendo Switch consoles need to be using the latest system version.

  • Needs a lot of work

The inability to control each account separately, is a huge swing and a miss. I would like to set time limits per child, and not the whole system. Further to this, is should be able to control content and game ratings separately too. Please come out with an update that address these short falls.
  • Please Allow Settings By User

Great basic app, but allow us to set times by user. My family shares a switch and I want to allow X amount of time per child as opposed to a total amount for everyone. Please add this feature and it’ll be perfect.
  • User profiles, Nintendo!

    By esparks
Restrictions are applied to the console instead of the user profiles. What does this mean? You can't vary restrictions based on the ages of more than one child. Once you give the child access to the console, there's nothing keeping them from playing as a different user profile. I don't want my kids to be able to access my game saves or play mature content, but this just makes parental controls painful to use. What I want is basically what Xbox does. You sign in at the start of a gaming session, and content is restricted to that specific user profile. For my kids to access my profile, they need a password. For their own profile, they only have access to appropriate content and they can request my permission for things they can't access. The Wii U even had separate profile access. I don't understand how Nintendo could hose this up so badly.
  • Limited Time Limit Restrictions

    By Kane KS
Clearly, one of the main reasons for having parental control over a video game console is limiting the time your kids use it. This app does not give a parent the ability to set time limits per user. It seems that you can only set a daily limit for the console regardless of who uses it. This is useless in a household with multiple users.

    Helps my child
  • New update but still not fixed

Still no way to limit specific users. When you have an adult and a child that play it makes this app all but worthless
  • Room for improvement

It’s ok I guess, I would like some more security features such as a lockdown mode where you can deactivate the device or render it useless in the event its lost or stolen.
  • error on selecting account

    By wolfman_4_ever
I get error code 2804-0400 after I login to my nintendo account. no info online about this error.
  • Alright

It covers all the essentials but a big feature we need is a way to lock our adult profiles so the kids don’t meddle with my breath of the wild save.
  • Can’t even login. Thinks I’m registering

    By BillyD4
Got a new phone and downloaded app. Go to login and pick google. After typing in email it errors saying you can’t register due to email already in use. I’m not registering. I’m clearly picking login. Notifications on the switch are also buggy. Randomly “rings” about time up and then let’s them keep playing.
