  • Why do you ALWAYS need my location???

Why does this app *always*need my location? 20 bucks for this? Are you spying on me? Even if you're not, you're *wasting my battery*. Honor my privacy and spare my battery and I might give this a good rating. There's no way you need always on location tracking.
  • Very glitchy, sorry I spent the money

I purchased this app to utilize while hunting. I downloaded a section of the map, however, the app was very glitchy and the satellite map did not have any detail. I had high speed internet while downloading. Many times while in the satellite mode the topo map would appear on the screen when I zoomed in on the map. I would be open to suggestions if someone thinks I'm using it wrong or if my settings are incorrect but to be honest is there a refund for this app?
  • Confused about subscription and why app monitors location 24/7/365

I'm confused with the new Gaia subscription vs non subscription. I bought the Gaia app and have an acct. What's the difference in maps and functionality between the one time purchase and the subscription? Also doe Gaia work in and have maps for Thailand , Cambodia, Canada and or Mexico? Also why can't I change setting to use my location only WHILE USING THE APP?
  • Subscription = bad

It was a good app, but I cannot support the subscription model. It seems that Gaia saw a way to make more money at the user's continued expense. $20 is expensive for an app, and there are other, cheaper ones out there with equivalent functionality that continue to be supported without subscription fees.

Just got back from a 2 day hike using gaia for navigation and planning and it worked a lot better than expected. Gps was very accurate and battery life was great in airplane mode with gps. With tracking on and constant picture taking and map checking on a difficult to navigate trail my iPhone 6s battery made it 20 hours(12 hours day 1 and 8 hours day 2).
  • Gaia Abandoned Us!

A couple months after spending $20 on this app the developer updates to a buggy version and stops supporting it. Will be posting about this on our hiking forums that recommend Gaia.
  • Map downloads are not available offline

I downloaded a rather large map area for offline use as most of my hiking trails are located outside of cellular data coverage. The offline map data loaded without issue the first couple of times, but then I noticed the map resolution had degraded to the point that it became unusable. In order to recapture the original high resolution, I would have to connect via wifi or cellular data while zooming to the location in question there by caching the the missing map files. This process only served as a temporary solution as cached map data is often overwritten by new map data as it is fetched by the app. It would appear that most of my downloaded maps are merely just cached and not truly available for offline use. This defeats the whole purpose of downloading map data for offline use.

$20 for an app that gets the rendering resolution to wrong that the screen just flashes constantly instead of working? Are you kidding me? Waste of money, crap app.
