Great app. User interface is very good. Website has very good customer support and they even took time on the phone with me. Very flexible map sourcing. Very pleased. Get it.

Guys! Users! You are getting a very sophisticated app with robust materials and folks who DO REPLY to customer service requests. They keep improving it. They added to the features. I paid for the original and they are going to continue to support it for two years. Don't even recall what I paid. $10 or $20? And I no longer need to buy or carry a separate gps unit, saving $100s of dollars and 6, 8, 10 ounces? This you consider a ripoff?! I consider it a very good deal.
  • Terrible support and download speeds

I spent $20 to buy the original Gaia gps app, and it seems since they've developed the new version uploading speeds have significantly decreased. Just to illustrate I was going to hike a portion of the Columbia River Gorge two weeks ago. I was downloading an area surrounding dog mountain. It took me over four hours to download this area. This was not an issue with my network, because I switched and used multiple networks, all of the networks I used were fast connections. No matter which network I used the download was ridiculously slow. This is the second time I've had this issue. If they want to be greedy and start a new subscription service that is fine, but this should not come at a cost to the people who downloaded the original service for a one time fee. Gaia should still have obligations to provide quality service to these people as well.
  • I don't like the monthly pay scheme.

This app cost $20 and now they want you to go a pay per month use. Not right at all. They say they will keep the app for a couple of years and then it will be gone. Currently looking for a replacement. I would like my $20 back.

I've used various handheld GPS devices for years but I'm amazed how equivalent this is. If you already have a smart phone it's much cheaper
  • Best gps program ever.

I use this constantly on walks in roadless- trail-less areas in BLM land. It's accuracy is spot on, I can waypoint places and get back them. I sent my info to a friend with map making software, who made me my own personal map, using GAIA files. I no longer need my gps unit. This and a compass are all I need.
  • Great app but new business model

After reading the other reviews about version .13, I've decided to stick with version .12. I heard that potentially we will be paying for an annual subscription despite having bought the app a while ago. We should be grandfathered in. Also, will Gaia GPS (classic) be supported still?

This app is amazing, but unfortunately I don't use it regularly enough to pay for the subscription model of the new version.

Appreciate the response to my rating. I still love your app but as infrequently as I use Gaia, I will pass on the subscription and see what else is out there.
