But don’t use the magnetic case with anything that uses the compass lol the screen will lockup and not navigate.
  • Desperately needs to be updated..

While I used to love this app, and have an avid sky watcher to be, it hasn’t been updated in at least a year. There had been problems getting it to calibrate. I always had to do it manually, which is fine, but difficult when you don’t know which way you are facing and don’t have any obvious points to calibrate to. Now, it is just plain stuck. It doesn’t move at all, and all I can see is Draco at due north on the horizon, no matter where I am pointing. I have written the app help people and not heard back. It is disappointing. My daughter used to love this app, which was why I paid for the upgrade, but, unless they update it soon, I would not recommend this app for anyone. It will only frustrate you.
  • Perfect to use along side a telescope

I've been using this app to accompany my night sky viewing with a telescope. It has been very helpful in letting me identify stars and constellations that I have been unfamiliar with. The paid version is definitely worth while. Not only will it show you all the celestial objects above the horizon, like Messier objects, but it will also show you where a bunch of man made space junk is floating above your head.
  • Best Star Chart. Ever.

I've been an amateur astronomer for over 20 years now, and this is decidedly the best star chart I have ever used. The only thing I would even suggest to add, is a Planner function for each evening's night sky. In other words, an option to click an icon inside the app that shows you the top things to see tonight, maybe everything that is Magnitude 5 or brighter for the evening, to help you plan a night of observing and make sure you hit all the best sights for the evening. But this is definitely a great app, very intuitive and informative.

This app really opens your reality at night. As a Pagan, I like to know where all the celestial bodies are in my sky both day and night, and this is the perfect tool for that!

Shared this on Facebook with my friends: Sat on the dock last night with my dad, waiting to see if we could see the international space station pass directly over our heads. Even though we could not, it was one of the best moments of my life. Just like sitting with him. Oh, and if you don't have the app, SkyView, you should download it. You can find any planet, heavenly body, star system, or human launched item up there. If you search for something, it will show an arrow until you are pointing your phone directly at it. So even though we couldn't see ISS with the naked eye, we could follow it with our phones. And just now realized, there's at least one app that two people can use to share an experience without ignoring each other!

Superb app. Ease of operation, graphics, and technical information for astronomy mavens; experts or beginners.
