Any.do is like your first car. Despite its flaws, you love it, because it’s simple, it gets the job done, and at that point in your life, you’re not in need of anything else. That is, until you wake up one morning and realize they took the steering wheel from you. And charge you to get it back. I had been a user for years, and even though I came across a glitch almost every day, it was only a minor annoyance, because I liked its interface so much. Never-mind that at times some of my tasks would just completely disappear on their own (which somewhat defeats the point of having a task manager in the first place to remind you of what needs to be done), I stuck with it, and even incorporated the version for my MacBook. But recently, as I was promoting Any.do to my fiancée so we could plan our wedding with the app’s collaboration features, my dark theme went away. When I went to deactivate it, the app demanded that I subscribe to its monthly service. Something that I once had for free, for years, was now gone. This may not seem like a large issue, except for my medical condition, which comes with a frustrating eye sensitivity. I contacted Any.do about the issue, but unfortunately never heard back. There always comes a time that we must trade up, and thankfully, there are plenty of options out there. If a car maker wants to remove features, and start treating their maintenance-heavy product like it’s a BMW, then maybe it’s time for the junkyard. Thanks, Any.do; you got me through a lot of years. I’ll miss you, but I’m very happy with my new set of wheels.

Kept on closing by itself while trying to add new tasks. When reopening, tasks previously added not saved. Very frustrating experience.
  • Make sure it has what you need before you pay

The free version doesn’t let you do much so I went ahead and paid for the subscription. However, I found out shortly after paying that a key feature I’ve used in task managers for a long time was missing from this application. That feature is to schedule a recurring task out a certain number of days upon completion of that task and not by the original date it was due. This was a dealbreaker for me so I ended up going with Things 3 which offers that feature, instead. So just to be sure to ask up front if the features you really need are available before paying.

With new update there is no way to delete tasks. This very frustrating 😠

I like the list maker and how it lets you list it as today, tomorrow, a certain date, or sometime. I love the calendar too.

Received the marketing email about new features so I was excited to try them out in my premium subscription. However, it seems that The new features did not push to my device (8+) and there is no update option In The AppStore. Haven’t had a response from customer service. Not what I expect after paying for the premium subscription.

I had the free version (deleting my account) and with the newest update, they broke my all black theme. Now they want me to pay for what they just broke. No thanks!
  • No recurring tasks without $2/month fee

An app such as this is so simple, yet they want a recurring fee for basic options.
  • Ruined by update

I have been using this app for years and loved it. The recent update makes the app unusable and it is now asking me to pay $2.99 a month. I deleted the app and downloaded a different free list app. Problem solved.

This app is killer!! The perfect “To-Do” app, you won’t find a better on out there. However, WE DONT NEED EVERY LIST I APPLE REMINDERS SYNCED, JUST THE TO DO LIST. Why would I need my bucket list in Any.do? Really, really, really, would like to see that Apple Watch integration also. But this app is STILL boss!!
