Description

*** Featured in App Store Best of 2016 *** “The biggest software advance for writers since the word processor.” —Michael Marshall Smith, bestselling author Typewriter. Ring-binder. Scrapbook. Scrivener combines all the writing tools you need to craft your first draft, from nascent notion to final full stop. Tailor-made for creating long manuscripts, Scrivener banishes page fright by allowing you to compose your text in any order, in sections as large or small as you like. Got a great idea but don’t know where it fits? Write when inspiration strikes and find its place later. Grow your manuscript organically, idea by idea. Whether you plan or plunge, Scrivener works your way: meticulously outline every last detail first, or hammer out a complete draft and restructure later. Or do a bit of both. All text sections in Scrivener are fully integrated with its outlining tools, so working with an overview of your manuscript is only ever a tap away, and turning Chapter Four into Chapter One is as simple as drag and drop. Need to refer to research? In Scrivener, your background material is always at hand. Write a description based on a photograph. Reference a video or PDF. Check for consistency with an earlier chapter. On the iPad, open two documents side-by-side; on the iPhone, flip between research and writing with just two taps. Once you’re ready to share your work with the world, simply compile everything into a single document for printing, or export to popular formats such as Word, PDF, Final Draft or plain text. You can even share using different formatting, so that you can write in your favorite font and still keep your editor happy. Inability to consistently and reliably sync with desktop app make the program useless.

I turned on “Sync project upon close or rename” to always in the iOS setting app and my projects sync almost instantly. Though I wish the setting is in Scrivener app as I took a while to find it. Overall the app is phenomenon! I’ve never used Scrivener desktop before and quite nervous about shelling out 20 bucks but I bought it in the end and I’m glad I did. I translated a 55 chapters book in there solely on my iphone 6s plus; storing 220 chapters(draft, edited versions and original script) in total and the app never crushed or lost data. Plus the sanity I lost from tinkering around with Google Docs finally returned. I enjoyed using the app so much this January when I can finally buy a laptop, Scrivener is my first software purchase! A small suggestion though... the S on Scrivener app icon doesn’t center and it’s bugging me a lot.😕

I've been a Scrivener user since version 1. Our household jumped on version 2 when it came out. I leaped for joy when L & L released the iOS version, which is gorgeous. Version 3 took my breath away. I recently ran into some syncing issues between the iOS and Mac version via Dropbox. I reached out to a number of folks, including Scrivener support at Literature & Latte. My recent support encounter person stayed with it and elevated my ticket. I won’t go into the details, but I’m now syncing with blazing speed via Dropbox. A dream come true. Thank you Literature & Latte. Great products. Kudos to your support team. My first writing love has returned!

You guys did an outstanding job with this App. You kept the same core concept as the PC version so I was not completely lost when I started using it.
  • Thick and confusing tutorials. Printing very limited

I find this app expensive for what you get. It must take a lot to figure out how to make this app do whatever it is that it is supposed to do so well. I just want to print. I must compile to print. And then all my chapters are mashed together. I want each chapter to start on a new page. I had to go to a forum that is the longest string of complaints and struggles that it took nearly 5 minutes to quickly scroll down in search of my topic. I didn’t find anyone with my particular problem, so the forum was no help. Supposedly, somehow, somewhere I can change the “Appearance” of my compilation to be printed, but the “Appearance” section is minimalistic at best. The “Tutorial” for modifying the “Appearance” of what I want to print is unintelligible for a new user like me. I’ve been using this app for 6 months now and I still haven’t figured out how to much with it except to type in it. I’m thinking about using a google doc at this point. Hopefully I get a response that is helpful from the help team in the next week. This app reminds me of Hyperlink in the early Internet days. It takes a whole lot of figuring to do something it seems could be quite simple otherwise.
  • Do Not Buy

This is the dumbest App for writing that ever existed. What Literature & Latte Ltd. is good at is separating you from your money. This, as well as the one for the iPhone, as well as the one for your laptop don’t sync to anything. They don’t even sync to themselves. I don’t know who wrote the rave reviews, but I hope they got free versions of this nonsensical application. If you want a strong writing tool that works across all platforms and all devices, use OneNote or Evernote. Skip this lousy excuse for a writer’s tool.
  • Best writing app. Period.

Scrivener iOS, combined with Scrivener 3, is the ideal writing environment. It actually makes me look forward to the challenge of “the blank piece of paper”(or screen), offering a great setting for creative or scholarly writing!
  • My weapon of choice

Scrivener is my default word whacker. Fast, clean, reliable, it’s the perfect partner whether I’m writing a 30-second ad, or a long-form script. The cork board, the filing system, the ability to bring in web content for research make Scrivener an all-in-one tool that works seamlessly between my iPad and Mac. Yeah, the Dropbox sync can be sllllow. But, good things are worth syncing for. It’s yet to be an issue for me. One more thing before my rant’s complete: Scrivener is built on rock solid code that has earned my trust. It’s one of those tools that works well because its creators have melded serious app skills with an understanding of the challenges of writing.
  • Just Bought

I just bought this on my phone and like most apps--especially syncing apps-- I thought I automatically had it on my ipad. It did not immediately sync to my ipad, but it did after a few days. So I am happy that I did not have to pay separately for the ipad. Now I am lookong forward to working with it. Worst thing for me: Syncing to Dropbox as they charge after you fill the tiny storage plan. Please Scrivener app maker, add Google Drive.
